I wanted to say thank you Sharon for the brightness and sheer joy you brought us all. You were PHENOMINAL live! I have seen hundreds of forgettable gigs, but yours has always been right up there in the never will be forgotten gigs. Electriflying. I feel sad for all those who will now never have the privilege of seeing you perform.

Sharon, your music touched so many people and your stage presence was infectious. I first saw you perform live in 2002 at The Mercury Bar in NYC as part of the Daptone Soul Review and it is one of the most important live performances I have ever seen. We were on a weekend vacation for my sister-in-law’s 50th and I managed to persuade the whole family to come along. Since then I have been lucky enough to see you in the UK on numerous occasions and it was always something to get excited about. I know that the whole Daptone family is going to miss you dearly and as a fan I can only say a thank you for all the pleasure you have given us all. All our love and oceans of respect. RIP Sharon. You made music that was important to all of us.

Dear family and friends of Sharon, We are really so sad that Sharon is not among us anymore. What a great artist, singer and performer she was! But, even more important, what a sweet and lovely person! We have seen her 4 times in concert in Holland. The first time was in Groningen some years ago. We drove up there to see Sharon and the Dap Kings for my birthday. At the afterparty, Sharon sang Happy Birthday especially for me, that was so wonderful! We followed her ever since, and saw her in Amsterdam, in Utrecht and at the Noth Sea Jazz festival in Rotterdam. Luckily, we have all her music and she will be in our thoughts and hearts forever.
