With tears in my eyes, I can't formulate the words that would be adequate to describe the way I feel about your untimely passing, so I'll just say thank you so much for everything you gave us. "Too short, too black, too old", but too much inspiration for this world to handle. Thank you also to the people out there who gave her and her music a chance - who believed in her.

I discovered Sharon Jones to a festival 12 years ago in France. With my buddies, we were in the mists of our excesses of the night, sitting in the grass to listen to the artists, to drink and to chat. And there, Sharon Jones ! She had such a powerful energy, she made us raise our posterior chop-chop to go to wriggle in front of the stage. What a moment ! What an energy ! She remained expensive to my heart, sure to spend a memorable moment when I was going to see her and making her discover to others. A great lady !

I had the pleasure of seeing Ms.Jones 11 times and I even danced with her once onstage. All of these great memories put me on the C train last week to show my respects at her Memorial Service. I think Sharon would have liked it. Every speaker testified about how much Sharon got out of performing. She gave us so much more. I never felt that Sharon was performing because the gig was on the schedule or because she was a professional doing her job. She performed from her soul and defined soul music. Nobody has ever done it better.
