Remembering Sharon Jones

December 16, 2016
If I could say one more thing to Sharon, it would be to thank her so much for her music. It took a long time for us to find her but we did and she left us with a great set of recordings. I was fortunate to see Sharon live, at concerts I will never forget and getting to meet her made me even more of a fan. She really was a lovely lady. My heart goes out to her family and friends, in particular Saun and Starr who knew and worked with Sharon for many years.

Oh Miss Sharon Jones, I've listened to your music for as long as I can remember and was fortunate enough to hear you sing 3 times in the last year. I celebrated my 50th Birthday watching you tear up the stage at Madison Square Garden, Feb 2016 and you sang like an angel and never looked more beautiful!. Your voice is amazing and your energy contagious and I thank you! God Bless pretty lady💝🎶💝

I saw Miss Sharon at the jazz fest in New Orleans. I have never seen anyone like her. I remember thinking wow that lady has the moves and her voice, wow. Everyone was up and dancing, including me. Her energy and music touched my soul. I feel privileged and honored to have been able to see this woman preform. I saw her again in September in LA . I heard she was ill and I was afraid I wouldn't get a chance to see this fantastic woman again. I am so sorry she is gone, but her music will live on. Thank you Miss Sharon for just being you.

To friends, family of Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings and everyone at Daptone Records, accept my condolences. I had the good fortune to see Sharon and the Dap Kings perform once in Melbourne and have fond memories of what a vibrant and dynamic performer Sharon was. Thanks for bringing such great music to us and supporting soul music. Sharon's indefatible spirit and her music will continue to move and inspire and never be forgotten.

RIP Sharon. I'm so thankful that I had the chance to photograph her onstage magic twice in concert earlier this year to accompany editorial review. She was such a powerhouse. One of the truly magnetic and beautiful performers. We're all lucky to have experienced her gift and talent.
